This is our only continuing fundrasing
effort, and it really makes a difference in meeting our budget goal for
the year. The prize could be something you have received
and could bear to part with, call it "re-gifting" -- or perhaps you have
a Gift Card that you could part with, or perhaps purchase one to donate.
For instance, a Starbucks gift card - or maybe a gift certificate from
your hair dresser, or from you manicurist. Maybe you have a
connection with a restaurant you frequent, ask them for a dinner or
lunch for two donation. If you can't attend but would like to
contribute to SMCLSA's, you can drop off prizes at Cynthia Woodman's
office, at Sony Computer Entertainment America Inc., 919 E. Hillsdale
Blvd., Foster City, CA. Or if you will give me a call, Mary King,
(650) 854-1978 or e-mail me at
srtek@pacbell.net I
will either pick up your contribution or arrange for one of the board
members to do so. |

SMCLSA will be having a fund raiser at Golden Gate Fields on December
7th and details will be forthcoming. Carol Karwatt is the chair
and she has tickets. The price will be the same - $35 - but will
include VALET PARKING - as well as the usual wonderful buffet luncheon,
program and special reserved seating. Note it is not too
early to purchase your tickets. Your checks will not be cashed
until after the event. For details see the flier on the Newsletter
Page.

It
is almost here, and as everyone is aware, with the down turn in the
economy more and more charities will be seeking your support this year.
Please be as generous as you can, whether it be donating food to a food
bank or soup kitchen, or warm clothing to shelters, and if you can't
give any goods - consider services. The Children's Fund will be
seeking volunteers to help sort and package Christmas gifts for foster
children who have been removed from their homes by the courts.
Remember, there are always those less fortunate than ourselves. |
|
Be sure to read the
President's Message and the Governor's Report on the LSI Conference.

If you have a photo and/or information to share about what has been
happening in your life - please send it to me in either Word or Word
Perfect attachment and photo in jpg format, and I will post it to the
What's Happening page. I know that several of our members had sons
and daughters graduating from high school and college this year.
My e-mail address is
srtek@pacbell.net.

Always
remember our men and women of the armed forces who have been wounded and
are hospitalized. They would so much appreciate you letting them
know you care. The address is:
A Recovering American Soldier
c/o Walter Reed
Army Medical Center
6900 Georgia Avenue, NW
Washington, D.C.
20307-5001
Also, please remember our Adopt A Unit program is
an on-going "support our troops" for the duration - even if it is a 100
years! |
|
Provident Central Credit Union is
still offering its members their super special checking account where
you earn about 4 per cent on your account up to $25,000. Believe
me there is no place you can earn this kind of interest on a checking
account! HOWEVER, IF YOU KNOW OF ONE, PLEASE LET ME KNOW.
Money Market accounts are only paying a little over 3% - I am just sorry
I can only have one account at Provident. Remember, each member of
your family can also be a member of Provident. |

Message
to members and guests who made reservations and didn't show.
THE NO SHOWS WILL BE RECEIVING A BILL FROM THE TREASURER. Everyone
knows that this is a non-profit organization and paying for no-shows is
not something the association can afford. We understand that
emergencies arise, but if you cannot attend at least attempt to have
someone attend in your place. Please let the reservation chairman
know you cannot make it. It might be possible that she would have
someone who could take your place. |

If you encounter a change in legal procedure,
local rules, fee increases, please send them our Legal Procedures
Chairman, Diana Prisk. |
