    FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Northbound U.S. 101 Onramp Closed at Coyote Point

San Mateo - As of Friday, May 23, 2008 Caltrans has closed access to the northbound U.S. 101 onramp at Coyote Point.  This closure is to allow for construction of the elevated roadway at Airport Boulevard to continue.  Because the construction of the elevated roadway is over the existing roads, the closure must be continuous throughout the time it is to be closed.  The northbound U.S. 101 onramp at Coyote Point will not be accessible until the completion of the new Peninsula Avenue Overcrossing in late 2009.

    Detours from Coyote Point

For northbound U.S. 101 leaving Coyote Point traffic will be detoured north on Airport Boulevard to Anza Boulevard.

For southbound 101 traffic leaving Coyote Point traffic will be detoured south on Bayshore Boulevard to 3rd Avenue.

This Work is part of the U.S. 101 Auxiliary Lane Widening project that will be completed in the spring of 2011.

Detours will be clearly marked.  Advanced Warning Changeable Message Signs are in place to warn drivers of this closure.  This operation is expected to generate normal levels of construction noise.  For more information contact Gidget Navarro at 510-286-5574.
